This is about half of what I've obtained in just over 2 years. I wish someone had given me the advice I gave you when I started!

Holy s that was fast. Whatever you do, don’t look at hw’s on eBay, you will find everything you didn’t know you needed.

No doubt, lol luckily been staying off eBay. This was mostly done during the weekends and during “work” errands lol. Been having a blast though.

Going to get some of those totes in the future when the collection continues to grow! Man and for 2 years, that’s a killer amount. Right on. One day I’ll be there as well. The hunt must go on.

Filled one and almost half more of another tote. Satisfied with them being stored like this for now. One day they will be displayed. For now though they are safe and sound. lol and out of the reach of my little nephew.

That last line is the key! Having fun, within your budget, and avoiding the FOMO trap!

Fun is what it’s all about. My lady and I are both in our 30’s. Work as most people do nowadays “more than we should” and don’t have any kids “yet”. If I was living pay check to paycheck, this would only be a dream hobby. Hard work does pay off though and in this case it’s definitely a cheaper hobby of mine. As for the race truck and car parts go….. well that’s another story lol. I’ve also been skateboarding for over 25 years and last year cost me about 10 grand from one slam. So yep the lady definitely appreciates me buying little toy cars instead of throwing all my money at the doctors. I wouldn’t be where I am at in life without the networking I’ve done in the skateboard community. I still get out there and shred with the best of them but not as gnarly as I did 10 years ago. Everything in moderation though. Bills and savings come first, then the room for “fun money” comes into play.

p.s.- I know I’m not that old but besides this forum I haven’t had any social media in well over 10 years, in other words what does “fomo” mean if you don’t mind me asking. lol sorry, I guess I’m an oldschool soul at heart.

Right on, thank you for clearing that up for me. No fear here, I’m just happy to still be on this earth and enjoy what I have the privileges of experiencing. The little things in life I cherish most. Just going out with my lady and enjoying the day or simply sitting at home relaxing on days off is what I’m all about now. As they say simplicity is bliss.

Glad to hear you’re having fun but try not to buy to much to fast. I have been collecting for a long time waiting for that hot wheels room and now that I’m building it I’m quickly realizing, I don’t have enough room for all of it.

    No you’re not.
I only buy what I love and try to stick to the more premium cars for the detail. I do like the th’s and Sth’s but have only found 1 in 10 years. I like my supras in the mainlines and try to stick to just customs as far as my mainline purchases reasoning. Finding a place to put/display them is the challenge

It’s slow going right now. Actually going to be working on the ceiling tomorrow. Hopefully that goes good then it’s onto figuring out a layout for the cases and hanging some cards that will stay in the package. Probably going to be buying new cases and leave the ones hanging in the garage. I have a few signs and posters that may or may not make it in there.

Fingers crossed the ceiling goes well!
Hope you find a display system to maximize your collection!

I have posted before but just to tie into this conversation about controlled buying and space to fit it in; I have realized that it will be overwhelming if I don't control it. I am a big truck fan, so I decided to only buy trucks (including some truck based SUVs). That helped a lot with not going overboard.
Regarding storage, I like to take them out of the package and "play" with it a little. I got a tool box with shallow drawers and store them in there sorted by brand name. To date I have more than 500 and there is room for more. I have a second toolbox that I currently have my knife collection in, but I can easily use that when I run out of room in the truck box. I have other ways to keep the knives.
Anyways, this to me is one of the most efficient ways to store the collection .

Nice. Also makes it easier to see what you got. When you get into high numbers it’s sometimes hard to remember what you have, especially if they are on the bottom of bin.

Took the advice from y’all and had a killer time at my first meet. The prices were super reasonable and the people super dope! Thank y'all for all the guidance. Here is what I picked up. Had to score a few novas for my dad.
