2 Hot Wheels 55 Chevy's with wheel swaps and repaints. The 40 Willy's was pretty much untouched.The red 55 was just not meant to happen. I dropped it, my chrome pen decided to do what ever it wanted and the body separated and I didn't notice. I think I can fix most of it and will leave the paint as is. I like that.

 

If you think you have seen this one before. You haven't. I have 4 of these is various shades of blue. This one has a metallic finish. This is a good example of when everything goes right doing modifications. These cars are a challenge to do that with because 1/64s are so small. You can get away with minor mistakes with 1/24s but minor appears to be large with 1/64s.

 

YES! Minor is major on these, it gets very frustrating and makes you really plan out your approach. And the castings aren’t always perfectly flawless to begin with. Idk how you do the trim, I use a super fine paint brush for my details, but my trim work is lacking.

I like everything color combo wise about the one on top. Even the pinstriping and metalflake on the box. Lol. Good finds.

 

Collectors Nationals 2002. Came in black and purple. When I first bought these I opened them up. A few years later I wished I hadn’t so I bought two more. Black one is more rare. These have more than tripled in price since I bought them.

 

I'm seriously considering buying 12 Mercedes Team Transports to return at a later date just to force a restock. Same with the dumbass MB airport cart, whatever the little white van is...sofa king tired of looking at them.

 

Mine would be the Porsche team transport in this area.

 

Mercedes and for some reason the AAR Cuda transport one are all you can find here.

never saw the toyota truck one, finally just ordered it.

Hobby Lobby sells Molotow liquid chrome pens in 2 sizes. I use both the 1MM and 2MM pens. $8 but worth it and last awhile. I like the sharp tip one and will make the pens puddle on a piece of plastic and then use like a paint brush as well for larger areas. Also have been using paint pens for detail work on headlights and turn signals taillights. Hobby Lobby has all that stuff. Recently started painting details with a nail and toothpicks. Firm but work for tight areas. Ace Hardware also has store brand metallic paints in a rattle can and their chrome is pretty decent. Have different metallic shades as well. Sharpie also has their metallic pens which look more like aluminum, bronze and copper.

 

Old modeler… I used needles, toothpicks, and skewers. Feel free to cut tooth and skewers to make larger circles. You can use them much like stampers. The drip method also works. There are plenty of finesse works. Fishing line also works as hairs.

Edit: chrome can also be “leafed”.

 

You find some of the best ones. Jealous of what your stores get in stock.

 

If it makes you feel any better, I only picked up the Lexus.
