Yep, real common with our driveshafts. i have a spare that i carry on the more challenging trips. i just didn't think anyone would be damaging them on this trup because of the limited rocks available.

he'll probably retube the rear section and have it ballanced, as well as getting a spare made, since he's going to moab in a couple months.

you guys and your 3'' lifts :p

I always carried a spare rear section. I had both rear sections balanced and marked to one front section. That way when I needed to swap I could properly index them so as to keep them nice and balanced :D

trophy trucks don't need clearance.....hence trailing arms being only a few inches off the ground, under the axle in some cases.

some of the koh trucks actually run 2 piece shafts with a double cardain. crazy good GC at that point, but still enouth DS articulation to run a shorter rear section.

so colin, do you ned to pull the entire assembly like that when you have one retubed and balanced? or can you just pull the back section from the flange and slip yoke and take it, since that is what will be getting retubed, and just have them balance that out and throw it back together when you get it home? because that is what i did and i am now wondering if i should have taken the entire assembly???

You are correct that the possibility is there, but the probability is much less since we prerunners KNOW BETTER than to try and get though that SH-TUFF !! :D

any you were probably the only one for sale within a 100 mile radius.

i can't answer that. as i've never done or seen it done in person. i jsut dropped mine off, let them go to town, and picked the truck back up that afternoon. i was only having u-joints replaced, but they did have to rebalance it as part of that service. but whether they ballanced it in two pieces or 1, i don't know.

no one told me that when i started wheeling.....made for a rough first year or two. you know it's bad when it makes boats look like a cheaper hobby

I've been looking on and off on CL for a truck to pull one from. I see two possibilities right now. One 2wd extended cab I think the rear half would work (might have to get it all balanced afterwards?) and a salvage yard that might have a couple trucks with complete drive shafts. Going to give them a call this afternoon and see how much money I'm short for one.

And I want to go to Moab. :( One of these years.

There is 2 junk yards in Pasadena that usually have a few tacomas in there, give them a call but if you don't speak spanish I wouldn't bother.
I was about 75% sure I was going but my truck might be for sale soon lol, so much for that.
