I'm taking the prerequisite beginning class at FMW Fablab so I can qualify to work with the equipment at Houston Makers Space. They're a coop east of downtown that has a ton of equipment and a pretty well equipped metal shop.

I saw their website not long ago. I might have to check it out.

Have you heard of txrx labs. Same concept I think. I've been going there for the last few months. They have lots of good classes for metal working, woodworking, electronic, and 3d printing.

    I made these on Sunday

No, I hadn't heard about TXRX before. Damn, their prices aren't too bad either. I'll have to check them out as well. HMS is just getting started so it's pretty quiet there now. Might be better until they get busy.

So TXRX has a cnc plasma table?

Yes. Actually they have a new one on the way that can handle 4x10 sheets 1" thick I think. They just sold their old smaller one and it's leaving the shop on Friday.

Yeah, you won't know that till you get there. No way of knowing until you get started, just go into it with an open mind.

Wow, TXRX even has a class on building a quadcopter. You have to show up with a 6channel transmitter, receiver, and a battery. Everything after that is included for $275.

    Pretty cool

Yep. You just have to watch the schedule closely though. The classes fill up fast because they keep the classes sizes small.
