best thing to do is put egos asside when your time comes to start at a company and make nice with the engineers and hope they make nice with you too. field guys and laborers typically think engineers are arrogant assholes who only know how to punch buttons on calculators with no practical experience, and engineers typically think the field folks are dummer than a sack of bricks and don't have a care in the world about how something is built.

you'll surely come across folks that fit the bill on both ends of that one, but for the most part (i've found), both are just stereotypes that are perpetuated by people not wanting to give the other a chance as soon as they see the job title.

If you don't get along with your engineers, they can make your life a living hell, and vise versa. PSA for the day.

Very true. I have designers that I know I can listen too and ones that are only good for turning red to black.

If you go into a job with either mindset you're setting yourself up for trouble.
