The Funny Pics thread had one, where the statement was "I think your diaper's full." Laughed good at that one.

It has been tried many times. Has been shot down every single time. Not sure how it gets shot down with that asshat Perry at the helm, but it does. A Texas Bill was passed in early 2013 allowing you leave your gun in your car on campus unless the campus has a policy about it being anywhere on their property.

Leaving it in the car at UH Main was a risk as there are quite a few break ins. The area is changing, but crime still occurs. It's not really that bad and I've been there many nights from 01/02 and again 04, and again lately. Funny thing is I never experienced anything on that campus. My friends and I even had really nice cars...I used to park my Z4 (soft top) and the worst that happened was a door ding by an Asian chick in a stupid ass camry. Shit my buddy Princeton used to drive his Porsche to campus most of the week.

You can find cheaper ones on eBay or somewhere else. I am not sure what brand/style you bought else I would help you look.

Honestly I would do the same. Sometimes the fight isn't worth the miniscule loss when you can get away with having your current quality of life unscathed.

Have you ever been in a fist fight? Have you ever had a gun pointed at you? When in the situation there is nothing really to think about, you just react. At least you admit that you aren't unclear of what you would do.

Even in competition shooting they teach you to kill, but the wisest instructor said he doesn't even carry because the circumstances involved doesn't mitigate the outcome.

You cannot purchase one, but you can own one. You cannot carry it on you or in your vehicle until you can attain a CHL. You have to be 21 to attain a CHL.

I believe the same rules apply when you are going hunting. You can keep a rifle in your vehicle, but the ammo needs to be separate and the gun needs to be unloaded.

There are no laws about long guns that I am familiar with.

However, certain cities have their own ordinances about the specifics of carrying a long gun.

You have to make the judgement call about that. Risk vs benefit analysis lol.

There are a lot of misnomers when it comes to carrying weapons. Even the local officers may not be aware of their citys' ordinances. If you want to be proactive then I suggest not only learning the laws but consulting someone (aka an attorney or someone more knowledgeable, not a cop, not a buddy, not the gun shop employee/owner, and certainly not the local gun fanatic lol) and keeping a copy of the laws in your truck.

Once in high school I was pulled out of class by the cops because the drug dog had alerted them to my car. I had nothing illegal in my car but the cops did find a hickory ax handle that i always carry and they tried to tell me that the ax handle was a weapon and that i could be charged with a misdemeanor.
