I am kinda curious about the "points". Surely that number doesn't equal the number of +1's you've received.

It doesn't. Pretty sure each +1 is weighted per user. I think higher rep users bear more weight then lower rep users and you get more 'points' per +1 based on that.

 

I believe it can vary, depending on how they have the code written. It could be a base amount of points that you get, or it could be something along the lines of the amount of rep received can vary by the amount of rep that person has (percentages). I dunno. TcBob had a hand in it, so as far as we're concerned, it's magic.
