Houston area (along with DB's not from Houston) BS thread

Worn out from watching the GF complete her first half ironman yesterday.

 

How did she do?

 

Big things happening to the Yota on Thursday

 

She did great on the 1.2 mile swim. That was the furthest she'd ever swam, and it was open water. The bike kicked her ass. Austin isn't exactly flat and the hills really did her in. She rolled in only a few minutes before the cutoff time for the bike. After that she was down in spirits because she thought she didn't have enough time to complete the half marathon she had left. She thought she only had two hours, but she actually had three hours. The hills came back to bite her again, but she finished just before the actual cutoff.

All in all a great accomplishment.

 

That's awesome that she finished.

 

Finally made a decision.

I did a sprint tri out in Austin. Even then, I thought that having to run and bike those hills were ridiculous.

 

You should stay out of the strip clubs.

They're pretty brutal. I unknowingly had her phone in my backpack the whole day and she runs some sort of fitness tracker on it. On the drive back she looked at her phone and it had a message pop up saying she had completed her fitness goal for the day.

I walked/jogged eight miles yesterday while supporting her through the race. No wonder my legs are tired this morning.

Good on you. Once they leave after T1, it's pretty quiet and you can't do much except wait. Was the run 1, or multiple loops?

When Amy did her first half, I ran about 8 miles to meet her at about 6 different stops for support.

 

The bike was one big loop so all we could do was get a bite to eat and wait. The run was three loops though so we saw her a bunch. She wasn't a happy camper by that time though.

 

Could have been worse. Could have been raining.
