this is my letter to toyota of north america. whoops, i just hit send.

    Good Evening,

I am writing to express severe concern over the treatment that I have received from the service department at Toyota of Alvin. I first brought my truck in for it's 20K servicing, during which, the tech broke my lug/lug nuts on my wheel. I was then told "Here is the part number and cost, so you can replace them." That struck me as funny since it was the tech who broke them, not me and I did not order them. Fortunately, they put normal lug nuts back on to keep my wheel from falling off.

A few days later, I experienced an issue with my 4wd, and against my better judgement, brought it back to Toyota of Alvin, thinking maybe it was a fluke, and to give them a second chance. I showed up for my 1130 appointment and was sitting in the waiting area until nearly 5pm at which point the service representative, Simon, called to me and told me that the repair would not be complete until the next day, and I was given a rental car and told that I would be contacted the next day, Christmas Eve.

By 1000am I had not heard from him, and with their 1200 closing time looming, I called but was forced to leave a message. He called me back at a little after 1030 and told me what the issue was and that my truck would not be ready until Friday. I expressed to him that I had a camping/road trip that was starting the day after Christmas, and if I was unable to go, it would mean that the majority of the 9 people would also have to cancel, as I was their ride or carrying gear that they could not. To credit Jimmy, the service manager, he arranged for me to take a loaner Tundra for my trip.

By Friday I had not received a call, either telling me that my truck was repaired or what the status of the repair was, so upon my return on the 31st, I visited the location, and spoke with Jimmy. He told me that the ordering system had crashed late during the week and the part had only just arrived, but they were closing soon, and closed the next day for the 1st, but that my truck would be completed no later than today, January 2nd.

Not receiving a phone call today, and looking forward to getting my truck back, I tried calling all of the numbers on the website, but they all led to a "this number has been disconnected" voice mail, forcing me to drive to the dealership to meet the loaner contract on the Tundra. Upon arrival, I spoke to Simon, and he told me that the repair had not even begun as the part (4WD actuator) was in fact backlogged with no clear estimated arrival time. I arranged to turn the Tundra in and was issued a Camry and was told to "wait for my call".

I'm sorry to have to even bring this to anyone's attention, but this is starting to get to the point where it is affecting my day-to-day life. I have visited numerous Toyota Dealerships across the nation, and received nothing but the best service, except for this place. I don't know what else to do about it, but I am starting to get uncomfortably annoyed and angry with the way I have been treated during this "repair" process. I have had friends that have received the same treatment from this service department. In my many hours of sitting there, I have met some very nice sales reps and a lot of the admin and parts staff, and they are all affable and amenable to just chatting for a few minutes, truly showing their desire to make a person's experience at Toyota of Alvin pleasant. The Service department took all of that good mojo and erased it. I will never return to this place once my vehicle is repaired, and I have already begun to spread my experience with fellow Toyota owners, both local and geographically separate.

That's outstanding. I look forward to it. I've been told that the tours full up pretty quickly during the week so arriving early would probably be good. I'd love to see the Karbach brewery too... their Weiss Versa is currently one of my favorite beverages.

Side note, it's excellent to hear that MagPul will be a Texas company soon.
