    If you're looking for a job as the police...and you're already academy certified...take the job you're offered even if the pay is a little less...It's easier to get a job if you've got one already plus it at least gets you real world experience etc and then you can move to where you want to work. You may also find that you love the lower paying job more. I work for an agency that pays about $5000 less starting out than any other local agency. The intangible stuff goes a long way. I have tons of room for promotion, a take home car, had a dodge challenger for the last 2 years, have a boss that backs officers up and doesn't cave to political pressure, and the citizens support and respect my department. all of those things don't exist at the other agencies. Just with the take home car, the time and $ I save adds up to well over $5000.
