    4wd was great last year during our ice storm. Cars were stuck trying to get up small hills or over bridges with the Coble stone ice. Never got stuck once. You are right that it does not help you stop or keep you from sliding but it was very useful for me. Just had to drive slow like everyone else and stop a lot earlier than if it were dry.
