Here's the platform that I'm working on. This ones called Delta House.

So awesome. I'm in awe of those things.

 

the impressive part is the scale of it. I believe it is the highest capacity lifting devise in the Americas. those darker rigging components hanging off the bottom of the cables in the picture have the girth of about a city buss.

my pictures aren't as impressive, but it'll give you an idea of the size, especially when you realize that that is a nearly colpleted oil platform next to it.



Note the truck near the center of the picture that is smaller than one of the winch drums.

 

the "pin" that secures that yellow spreader between the two booms is the size of our trucks

took these a few months ago. any of these you rig? i believe one of my buddies is working on delta house as a field engineer.

 

Nope, doesn't look like it. That's one busy yard.

 

I can believe it. There is some massive equipment in refineries but nothing the scale of a platform. I mean, some units are massive but they don't have to be self-sustaining like a rig.

Once a long long time ago I was at some rig construction yard in Corpus. The memory is foggy but I still remember being impressed.

had 5 rigs of various shapes and sizes going at once when i was down there last. i think yours is one of three at the moment now, as two have sailed since then (assuming schedule was kept)

I did but they are stalling on start date... getting old.

 

may very well have been this one. it's technically in Ingleside, which is right across the bridge from corpus.

 

i'll approve, but only if we get 3 hour lunch breaks on clear days to fly quads.
