Please keep in mind that I haven't ridden in a few years and I certainly haven't kept up with the sport bike scene in quite awhile either. I'm finishing overhauling the RR this weekend after two years of disuse, or hoping to anyway.

Anyway, I have a generally favorable opinion of the 675R. Aestheticly, its gorgeous. Lots of features some standard, many of which cost thousands extra if added to other manufacturer's bikes (Ducati, BMW, etc). Performance wise, the inline triple of the Daytona R produces plenty of HP and low to mid range torque, and the best part is, all of it is usable. It's not simply a straight line queen. As its not a "true" 600cc displacement bike, like the 636 & obviously the GSX-R 750, it's kind of misleading to compare engine output of the Daytona R to a traditional Japanese 600cc bike. That being said, out of the 636, 750, and 675R, I'd take the Daytona R any day and not look back. It's nimble too; I'd place the overall feeling of agility between a 1000cc & 600cc... Again, perfectly usable for any situation. The icing on the cake is the exhaust note of the inline triple. It's distinctive and the rumble drops panties and briefs alike.

The downsides are ergonomics, aftermarket accessories, and dealer support. I found the cushion of the 675R seat to be non-existant. The rider position is extremely aggressive, similar to that of a R6 in my opinion, with forward weight distribution (again like a R6) that some riders may or may not like. Don't plan on taking long rides anywhere without a bottle of ibuprofen handy. You're going to need it. Also, aftermarket accessories are hard to come by since there are very few motar-and-brick stores that sell Triumph stuff. You're going to be ordering a lot through the internet, and that can be a royal pain. Same goes for actual Triumph dealer. Drive 100mi to buy a Daytona R at the nearest dealer... And you'll be driving 100mi to have any sort of warranty or maintenance work performed. Quality is good; I'd argue somewhere between Suzuki & Yamaha with Honda being at the top.

If you're looking to buy a bike that you're going to be aggressive on, whether it be on the track or twisting back roads, I'd say go for it. The weight distribution and ergononics alone support that kind of riding, and all the gadgets and gizmos that come standard (semi-adjustable ABS, quickshifter, Brembo brakes, etc) all lend themselves to that sort of riding. However, If you're just going to ride fairly conservatively, whether to commute to and from work, weekend rides, or impressing the hoes, I'd say you might want to consider another bike based upon the ergonomics and limited availability of support for the 675R. Either way: ibuprofen.

Again, this is just my opinion. If I were to buy another sport bike, I'd have to seriously consider a Daytona 675R vs. another RR or whatever else catches my attention at the time.

I don't mind the aggressive riding position of the Daytona R, but I have the same thoughts on it as I do about the Yamaha sport bikes: my riding style coupled with my body causes me more discomfort than my RR. The RR is obviously aggressive, but I feel I'm more "in" the bike than "on top" of it. I also prefer the balanced (as opposed to forward) weight distribution of the RR and it's overall light weight versus other bikes.

Again, personal opinion. You're going to be the one riding it and paying the note and insurance, so the decision of what you want vs what you can live with/without is ultimately yours.

In his own way, this is a good warning. I'm not sure whether you've ridden before, or what you riding skill level is, but if you are just starting, you might want to start with something with a bit less power where you can learn how to ride and how to CYA. Then move into the higher power and more capable machines. No protection on two wheels, and most bike incidents are due to a reaction to a cage driver.

Yeah I'm not gonna rip anywhere and my biggest fear is laying down the bike at highway speeds because some douchey canoe decided he hates motorcycle riders and cuts me off but I assume that risk just like I know laying the bike down is not a matter of if but when

Not just on the highway. I high-sided a bike a few years ago in town. Cost a butt-load a road rash and one of the ligaments in my rotator cuff. Should have a full face helmet, jacket, gloves and boots (all MC stuff that is made for sliding down the street).

I think it was about 4 years ago or so. I went and got my TX endorsement about 8-9 years ago, and that was just a test and a driving test. Last year my son wanted to get his and we found out about the course requirement. BTW, no driving test needed due to course requirement now, just the written test. Also, not age related, all MC endorsements require the course.
