I know. And and I really tried. I gave her all my attention whenever I was home, walked her all the time, etc. She just requires that someone be home 24/7

And thanks everyone else. Just sad and I feel terrible..

Man that bites, I knew kale was gonna say I told you.
But it's not that they need 24/7 attention, I dealt with the destruction of everything with my lab too. Like when I just bought a new $80 Oakley jacket and left it out cause I was too tired to hang it up - next morning she got to it, also got my Oakley backpack too.
It's that they don't know right from wrong at this point, it's all about discipline and proper etiquette and to keep a routine.
At early ages they like to chew on just about anything which helps clean and norture their teeth. Some of it is boredom don't get me wrong, but keeping them alone in a cage for hours will only result in a lab trying to find a way out. I know none of this is gonna matter later as you've made up your mind. But at this point my 3 (21?) year old pup knows what she can and can't do and is very obedient.

    Just my .03 cents.

Oh no!!! I'm so sorry to hear that!!!! Take an inventory on your clothes that were left out or bath towels that could have been eaten, just in case. Good luck with the dog search.

Sucks to hear man, you never know she may have been one of those dogs that had such a terrible previous owner it could take over a year to break her of her bad habits. Hope she finds a another great home.

Feel for you. I had to do that years ago. Makes you feel like quite the failure, but you need to focus on getting her to a family that can give her what she needs. It's tough with any animal that lives outside a cage in your home. Personalities need to find a happy place in the middle.
