Huh, any insurance involvement that I know of starts with getting it looked at by an adjuster who gives you an estimate of the damage and the cost to fix, then you have to either take it to one of their approved shops to get fixed, or get a check cut to take it to a shop of your choosing.

I started at the shop, so maybe that's the difference?

That's pretty much what they did on my truck and wagon. Both were drive able.

When it comes into the shop the adjuster arrives and goes through it with an estimate. Tear down begins and if anything else is found then the adjuster comes back and cuts a supplemental check.

If you asked for an estimate from the dealership then they look at it. Some bodyshops charge to work up an estimate. Last time I checked it was anywhere from 25 bucks to an insane 10% of their estimate.

Could be, I've always had an adjuster first. Benefit with the adjuster first is that everyone knows what the initial scope of work is and the money involved.

Makes more sense to buy a Trail Premium and pay the $500 to put a TRD Pro grille on it if you're going to just rip the suspension out from under it anyway. You're going to pay an extra few thousand and the only thing you'll have to show for it is some little badges that say TRD Pro behind your back doors.

Yeah but I really like the Black interior with red stitching most of all. Debated for a while about the trail premium since both models come in super white, but the interior sways my decision. also to go from the trail premium to the TRD Pro is only 2k

Meh, to each their own. Waste of money in my opinion. But hell, even a TRD Pro is a better buy than a damn 3rd gen Tacoma.

Yeah but theres a 6 month wait for a 4runner. All of the ones being delivered to Texas are already sold. If insurance totals my truck I won't be able to wait that long

I have all the TRD OffRoad features plus a hood skewp from the factory. Let's see you do that on those inferior trucks.

Not to mention I have a proven engine that is putting out the same horsepower as the 4.7L V8 that everyone wishes was put in the Tacomas.

But the most important thing is that my transfer case is operated with a lever, not a switch. The way God intended it to be.

You'll regret settling for an inferior vehicle.
