Anyone familiar with statefarm? Went by a couple bodyshops and they told me that state farm pays them directly instead of cutting me the check.

Said if I want the check then they have to send out an adjuster to look at the truck then will write me and the lien holder a check.

Does this all sound right or is there a way around this? First time dealing with an insurance claim. Have most of the parts to fix it all myself if I could just get a shop to look at it to make sure its all still straight and the steering rack isn't fucked.

When filing a claim, you typically do what ever your insurance tells you to. IE: "Wait for an adjuster who will be there in X days between these hours." So if you haven't filed the claim with your insurance yet, you should go ahead and do that.

Try watching it on the big screen and not a fuzzy bootleg copy on a 4inch phone screen. Then all will be better in the universe.

Called insurance. They said to take the truck to a shop and tell the shop to send its estimate. Then they'll send an adjustor out and he'll cut me a check :woot:

Looking for some help in the Houston area.

I live in Flagstaff AZ and I am looking for a Tacoma and found something in Houston. I already have a Carfax on the vehicle. I have several photos of the truck...I just want to put a set of eyes on the truck before I pull the trigger. Message me if you would consider helping me out.

    Thank you!!!!

    Unsolicited advice:

#1. OEM parts. Accept nothing less. Not even "OEM certified".

#2. Be there in person with the Adjuster. Generally speaking, they don't have your best interests in mind.

Hope you found someone to help you out. I like Flagstaff; drove there once from Sedona. Gorgeous.

As biscuits said. Accept only OEM parts. They are not paying you to fix it, they are paying for your loss and your loss was oem.
