You pay for 4 separate cards? Why not move them into one card. That way you only pay once. Vs 4 times

I'm amazed at how many people don't save money for when hard times hit. My mother always stressed to me how important it is to be able to support yourself and your family for at least 6 months if you every lose your job.

Got em all at separate times. Got em all set up on autopay plus I pay extra as well. So its really not difficult to manage.

After a T/A I usually have enough to live 3 months without a job. Getting better at saving but it isn't the easiest thing to learn when young lol.

Lol easy, just start putting money away and never look at it. Or even go back to count it. Just keep putting money away. :D

So. Apply for another card with a huge limit, pay all other cards with said card, then just focus on the one big.card?

Correct. But you don't have to get a new card. Find the card you have now with the lowest interest rate. And combine them into that card. Then pay that card off

Tale that back. Unless the new card has less interest rates than your old ones. Then get a new one

Not necessarily a bad thing unless you take that as an excuse to max the card out again... And find yourself in a deeper and more expensive hole than before.

Paying off debt is better than sex. I'm thoroughly convinced of that.

Yes sir. I keep a small amount on a low interest card just to keep a revolving balance. As contradictory as it may seem, having that small balance does not hurt your FICO score. May even help in a way: when creditors look at your DTI ratio and see all your credit cards have zero balance on them, they tend to get nervous because they see a potential risk for the applicant to go balls to the wall on spending and instantly going from zero debt to bankruptcy.

See my sig for the take away concerning financial & credit institutions in this country.

    0% interest cards, baby.

Amen to this. One of the most powerful life lessons and philosophies anyone can learn. Transcends education, job title, trade, everything.

It may not be the easiest, but it never gets easier. As you get older, everything gets harder and harder, as do the consequences.

Find a 0% interest card with zero or minimal transfer fee. Transfer as much balance from a high interest card to your 0% card and go balls to the wall paying off the 0% card. Repeat as necessary until either the 0% promotional period ends or you pay off your debt.

^^^ good advice really, but I am against having any balance on the cards. I have 3 and I use them all each month, pay off the balance entirely. But I have almost 0 debt besides my house and the interest rate was super low so I don't foresee any reason to get a loan soon.

I treat cc's like debit cards. Any transaction gets deducted from the checking balance, then at eom, its paid off, so no interest, no revolving balance. And the advice for 6 months living expenses, great, work towards it, you will be so much better off. Also work towards a "shit happens" fund, since shit does happen all the time.
