Too poor to list anything interesting.
Last evacuation for me was Rita. I was living in Houston, and had family in Galveston. I had to go south to pick them, and their stuff up in my truck and THEN head out of town. The place I was living usually takes 45 minutes to get to from their house. During that rush, it took 12 hours to get to. And then I still had to drive 24 hours on top of that to get to where we were going.

Never again. I told them if there's a storm, they need to get out early. No way I'm going south just because they want to wait to "what happens until the day of"

Plus yes. That whole anti looter thing.

I had actually quit drinking for 2 years (long story). then hurricane ike hit. I was lucky and got out early enough to avoid most of the traffic, but that hurricane made me quit, quitting drinking.

I've gone through a storm before. Knock out the power for a week. Hardest part of that wasn't the lack of power or AC. I was just so bored. Books can entertain me for only so long. Luckily now, I have about 30 board games :D

Don't remember if it was Rita, or Ike but Hwy 59 was a parking lot here in town. There was a few guys going around selling bottles of water for $5 to people stuck on the road
