Losing a parent or parent figure is hard.

My best friend's step dad was that 2nd father figure to our group of friends and I can still remember every detail about the night he passed. Her mom actually called me at 2AM to tell me he had been in the refinery and was electrocuted and had to be hauled out of the unit unresponsive. I flew out of bed and drove to Huntsville in the middle of the night to pick my best friend up from school because I knew she would be a disaster and unable to drive. Then seeing that person in a viewing or the hospital as so much less than they were in life is hard and its hard to force yourself to forget that when you remember them.

I also lost my dad last year after he died on the table in a routine surgery, came back and survived a 4 month coma and physical therapy to get sick with a cold and have a heart attack in the ER. He was on life support with no chance of recovery and even though he was clear on his wishes it was still hard to sign off on letting him go. I still remember vividly what happened when they took him off the machines and I wouldn't wish anyone to be in that position.

Long story short, it hurts, its confusing and nobody really understands unless they've been there. I wish you all the peace you can gather and if you need to talk to someone not involved then shoot me a PM.

At least one more fire then drowning to put the fire out. Then reassess.

 

Someone just washed it, so now he's going to have to go through the entire "process" again to get it back to where it was.

 

The rain is washing mine right now. Soon it will look like another soccer mom ride.
