Most everyone in Houston that I know works on their own stuff so the shops don't generally have to deal with it. I do know a guy in Austin who everyone up there uses to work on their trucks and he's done more cab mount chops than I can count. He's a taco owner and on here as @Texoma if you want to get with him.

Thanks Carmen, I appreciate the recommendation. I did a CMC today, and I've got one I'm doing tomorrow as well. Takes me roughly 2hrs from pulling the vehicle in the garage to doing the test drive. Here's todays work.

Thank you. Going around the side n bottom is easy, but the top you have to stitch weld so you don't light the cab mount bushing on fire.

Guess it depends on where in Houston and what time of day.

Looking for good locations near Houston to teach the wife the art of the manual trasnmission in my Tacoma. Places with long enough straight stretches to let her practice through at least 4th gear...but almost no other vehicles to make her nervous. Any recommendations?

I'd say at least 2 and a half unless you're talking about the west end of Houston and the east end of Austin, and with no traffic.

The mall parking lot around 7pm?
    The beach.

Traffic time is also a good time.

I allow for 3, but usually 2.5 does it, depending on locations and traffic on the start and end.

Outskirts to outskirts. Then you always have to factor in however long it’s going to take you to get the rest of the way. You could make it to Austin in a blazing quick 2 hours and then take another hour to get 20 miles.
