    Now you’re talking my lingo!
I could not imagine telling a client that I don’t know how to work something I am selling/installing.
I’m currently reverse engineering a control system that was installed in the early 90s and migrating it to our control system. It is really neat to see how the people of the past made the software and hardware work.

The first day it just sat there, we weren't going to touch it. The second day the boss came in and said it was ours to design the graphics. We looked for the on/off switch, pressed the only two buttons we could find but got nothing. Went out to do our real job and came back a little later and noticed a switch on the back under the power cord, flipped it and had the computer running and as they say, the rest is history.

We added on/off color conditions to motor indicators. Tanks were built with a bar graph for level indication. We added a timer to the color conditions on pumps to make them appear to be cycling and did a few more items that had the engineers scratching their heads.
