Gotcha gotcha. I see quite a few cars that were $35k 5 years ago fetching(or asking) $60k these days. You see the red roller that someone was asking $24k for? About died laughing at that shit cause the dude was serious too

Took a loan for $45k. Trashed the car. Then still owes $25k. Terrible.

What does the slider bolt to? Assuming bolt-ons... My son has a Chebby that the steps clunked on, ended up being the body bushings, since the steps bolted to the body mount bolts.

Yeah but steps and sliders are two different things. They’re either bolted or welded to the frame, never heard of one clanking or making noise those.

Yup, agreed, if they are welded or bolted directly to the frame, unless the bolts are loose, no reason to clank. I just wasn't sure if the bolt ons reused body mount bolts.

Me either. If it's clanking and bolt on then I would assume a bolt broke/backed out. I think you would notice it sagging or something when you walk around the vehicle though.

So, weld the steps to the frame. Problem solved

They're mobtown bolt ons. I swear everything is tight but I think maybe they're just not quite hanging quite right. Mobtown does use these long-handled bolts to get up into the crossmember and I thought one of those was what was doing the clanking (they're long enough that they can kinda flap a little) but it doesn't seem to be. When I get some good weather and a little bit of time I'm gonna loosen everything back up and then retighten, it's possible they're very slightly crooked.

They only clank on stuff like railroad tracks where the whole truck is shaking pretty good.

I can't make them clank by jumping up and down on them.

It's also entirely possible that it's something else entirely clanking.
