Tundra was junky. Toyota dropped the ball with the big trucks and that’s why people won’t leave the domestic trucks for em. Everybody loves the tacos and 4Runners... few love the tundra

i loved my Tundra. both of them. so i disagree. Wish i would have never traded in my 2010 or totaled my 2014. RIP. They just got shit gas mileage, but had plenty of power.

That shit gas mileage was the precise reason I didn't try to get one. Could have gotten a better deal than my Taco, but that's short sighted when paying V8 pickup gas mileage.

Look on tundra groups. 10 people own Tacoma’s per 1 tundra owner.

Like finding parts for sale for tundras is slim compared to Tacoma’s. I joined tundras.com (the brother of tacomaworld) and the Houston thread has had like 3 replies....in a year...

I agree on the tundra having power. It’s a fast bitch for the size. Mine even had a 175 shot sprayed through it on a stock tune. It was a bat out of hell for the size especially with 4wd launch.

But all the other stuff is where the tundras lack

    The payload is terrible

Can’t even get a 5th wheel in a crew max (or it’s highly recommended to not do it)

    The seats are uncomfortable

The door panels and speakers rattled without it ever even going off-road. Like no joke the door panels in the 2014 tundra with 50k miles rattled worse than my Tacoma after 100k miles and tons of off-roading

The seats literally stained from water. Water.

The black paint was terrible. It was so thin it would scratch by looking at it. That was a huge disappointment to me

The 14mpg empty... that was ‘okay’ but no trans temperature gauge in a heavy 1/2 ton is a let down

And the tiny fuel tank was a huge let down too.

I can go on some more too on the little stuff. But basically after having a taco, then a tundra and now the 4R...

I honestly believe that Toyota doesn’t put near the effort in the overall craftsmanship in the tundra as they do the other rigs. That’s from my own experience tho.

valid points Kase. Fit and finish isnt as nice as some other toyota trucks/vehicles. But lets be honest here, Toyota has never been the automaker known for its quality interiors in any of their models. Thats what Lexus is for. They are built to outlast others and Toyota does the best at that. To think youre getting something else from them is naive. Youre getting a truck you can beat on for 100s of thousands of miles without putting a dime into.

I had a gooseneck in crewmax. 6mpg pulling a 30ft goose with the Squirrel on it. Plenty of power to pull it. Scary as fuck to bring it to a halt. Goosenecks are made for 3/4 ton trucks.

Yea so you atleast get it. And look at what you drive now... a big ole Diesel.

Fact is that Toyota could have something if they would just give their full size trucks a little more love.

But you getting 6mpg and having the 28gallon tank (unless you got lucky and got the big tank or swapped yourself), that alone shows me that you felt the pain.

Like pulling my camper the truck did great. But the constant fuel ups fucking sucked.

But it’s all said and done.

Was the tundra a good truck to me? Yep. It pulled the taco, snorkies rig, and my camper without a problem. Ever. Never felt it until it came time to stop.

But do I think they’re worth what Toyota asks for em? Not after owning one.

Some may love em. some dont. All I can do is say my personal experience if people ask how it was owning one.

I've used that Firestone over by Pearland Parkway a couple times and they've done what I asked. But, it is a chain, so you never know what/who you are going to get.
