Buy a vehicle and pay taxes

Then sell and the next guy has to pay taxes again even though it was already taxed


“Buy” land. Now you gotta pay yearly taxes and if you don’t then you lose the land even though you bought it.

Work 60+ hours and get tons of taxes taken out then find out you have to pay more taxes cause you “made too much” that year.

Wanna pass your stuff down to your kids when you die? Better leave em money for inheritance tax

Since my work assignment is longer then a year my per diem is taxable. Uncle Sam is happy with me this year.

 

I'm assuming you're still single income, so that is good for you. Dual income will screw you over big time over the long run, even though they are "supposed" to be removing that marriage penalty. I've yet to see that...

Tax tables for married and single are different, but they have been getting closer. Also, with dual income, it gets quicker to get to the higher tax rates.

 

Usually taxed less when married no? That's how my taxes are showing? Once we get married I'll have more money.

 

No, depending on the delta in your incomes, most couples end up paying more. I haven't looked at the newest tables for this year, but prior to that the tax table break points had a higher $ amount for married for the same tax rate then did singles.

 

Yeah!?!? I'm confused. How is dual income going to screw me if am already in the 22-24% bracket?

 

Wifey would have to be making a lot of money to make the taxes worse.

 

OK, spoke from history, apologies. I just checked the 2018 tax tables and they have fixed it. Single tax tables are exactly 1/2 of the married tax tables, until you get to the 35% rate, then single filers get dinged worse.
