Ready for what? From the riding skills? If that's it, you should not have any problem. Basic stuff and I've seen you ride, you would be good. I had one son who did it with little riding experience and didn't have any problem.
We did that once last year. Someone just has to plan it, that is usually the problem. :D

Whoops, got it, a bit slow this morning.

The police bike class would be really good! The things they teach there are pretty far out of the ordinary, but useful.

I just like the slow speed maneuvers they do.

the whole license course i took through the local community college had all slow speed maneuvers, the entire practical test was completed in 1st gear. both instructors were retires motorcycle cops. I had never ridden a motorcycle before and passed without much issue. There was some stress and nerves because i still feel very new at it but just the difference in my abilities and smoothness from day 1 to day 2 was striking. The class supplied honda groms which were quite fun tbh.

im looking more at dual sport fuel injected bikes though, i prefer not to have to deal with a carb, tbh.

If you can avoid a carb do it! Ethanol gas and carb jets are a royal PITA to deal with if you dont ride all the time. They clog up and require a disassembly and cleaning. Sucks worse on mine, v4 with 4 carbs, small jets per carb. Avoid the issue if you can or ride fairly regularly or treat the gas quite often

Those little grooms are fun to ride!

I'm sure I can pass. It's always stressful to me not knowing what is required.
But I've been riding dirt bikes, ATV, quads since I was 10?

you should have no problem them, the test focused on 90deg turn from a stop, slow speed u-turn, stopping/braking (regular in a box and emergency), not stalling, serpentine, and a couple other small things. I think you should have no issue if you have experience, most of my issue was no experience and nerves due to that. You will see people in class struggling like i did but I still passed so you shouldnt really have any issue.

I took the class at the Harley dealership in Pasadena. It was free for veterans but was 3 days (2 evenings and a morning class). They supplied little 500cc bikes. It was fun and I learned a lot. I think I will try and find a skills course to get better at riding

Took a course here in PA. It's free around here. Was 2 days. 1 class day, 1 riding day. Missed the class day but took the test in the morning before the riding day and they still passed me.

Make sure the gear you buy fits properly. For instance, your jacket and helmet should fit snug to tight, especially at first. Hopefully your instructors covered those topics in depth. If they didn't, ask here or feel free to PM with any questions regarding riding gear. I'm fastidious about wearing my gear no matter the temperature or conditions outside. I can handle being hot. I won't be able to handle leaving skin or brain tissue on pavement.

    Ridin' dirty Dennis.

Which all things considered is better IMHO.

    Wait what? Police bike class?

I'm kinda jealous. I'd have loved to have ridden Groms when I took my course. Of course I took my MSF ten plus years ago at Awesome Cycles.

Several places have an advanced course where you use your own motorcycles.

It’s raining here like it’s the only thing nature is good at, and it’s all flowing your direction.

Head for the high ground y’all.

Yeah some parts are getting it bad down here but my house hasn't seen much rain all day. I suppose it's coming though.
