Well drove from Houston to Orange yesterday. May have gone through some high water.. Truck drove like a champ. This morning I noticed I suffered a slight casualty. Anyone got a spare cover laying around they want to sell?

If I tell the wife that a replacement is 700 bucks maybe she will let me get a lowpro hidden winch setup...Are snorkels really that useful once the water goes over the sparkplugs?

I dont know. never been in water that deep. During Harvey, I had a wake in front of me that went over the headlights - enough to make the belt slip on the AC compressor but not up to the plugs.

If you didnt have so much electrical shit in the cab. Then maybe. But you have to dielectric grease every plug. Snorkel can save you in some situations. But not that deep of water

A snorkel pays off whenever you go 35’s and remove fender liner and need to move the intake so mud and dirt doesn’t get in it. Helps more with that than water considering everything else gets wet when you go that deep lol.

Still new as hell to 4x4 vehicles and as a Houstonian, I needed to read this. I figured the electronics got effed before anything else (along with the doors leaking.) Would I be considered okay up to the bottom of the cab with a breather mod?

Bottom of the cab shouldnt be an issue. the intake inlet is pretty much at the peak of the wheel arch.

Sweet, thank you. What about the ECU and relays on the transfer-case/locker and anything else I can't think of. I don't plan on doing too many water crossings, but I guess I'd like to know my max height with a breather mod without messing up anything.

I disagree as I’ve had water in my cab ~3 times

did your engine die? or am i misunderstanding the original question? Because i've had water up to right below the door line and the truck was fine.
