The 5.3 votec isn't an ls? Weird I thought that's the one everyone is swapping cause it's in all their trucks from like 96+

 

That’s just cause people like to sound cool and fit in. The iron/aluminum block truck engines are not LS. They are a LQ4/9

the LS is what came in corvettes/Camaro/SS’s and others. There’s so many LS motors but a 5.3 and 6.0 from a truck are not them.

 

I had a buddy in high school that had a new GMC 4 door 1500 with the 6.0
That little thing was cool. I think it was called like the Vortec HD or something

 

Nah they’re badass for sure. Chevy can build a motor better than anyone else without a doubt. But I was just saying that LQ4,LQ9, L76, LM7, etc. are all truck motors.

people still say LS swap and have a 5.3 but that’s just cause it sounds cooler and easier to explain than using the actual engine code.
