Is the hook at an angle? How easy is it to attack the shackle to it?

it is at a little bit of an angle. I haven't put a shackle on it actually, but it should fit. it just maybe a little tight.

Looks like I may be able to make this one after all.

I'd like to get down there as early as possible because I'll need to be heading back as early as 12 or 1pm.

I live fairly close to 59 and Hwy 6, so I may head down to Wharton, then take Hwy 60 down through Bay City.

If anyone is interested in meeting at the Bucee's in Wharton, then heading South from there, I'd entertain any suggestions on a time.

For those of you wanting to fish, I'd think being down there by 6AM would be ideal.

We could have several groups with several meeting locations with the ultimate goal of all meeting up somewhere on Matagorda Island.

    Bring on the suggestions!

I'll be heading out from Fulshear area so I'm gonna do 1093 to Wallis where 60 meets 36 then take 60 to Wharton if people are meeting up at Buc-ee's. If not then I'll just do 36 to fm442 to 60 and skip Wharton if the meet spot is gonna be the sticker store in Matagorda. I can be at either Buc-ee's or at 59 & 36 to drag a crew down to Matagorda. I'd like to meet up inland by 700-0730 or by 0830-0900 in Matagorda. I don't plan on any serious fishing tho. Maybe kayak/surfing depending on conditions. If windy no kayaking, if flat/still then no surfing.

Sounds like a plan to me. So we'll be meeting up at Matagorda on the 16th?

I'll probably show up early and get some bait in the water. If there is wind I'll be flying my kites, you won't be able to miss them. The main kite is 10' across and the spinning tail is 15' long.

Where are we planning on meeting?

16th, yes. Not sure yet where we will meet. IMO we should shoot for a time at the sticker store in Matagorda so people can get sticker and last minute supplies then caravan down on the beach. That way there could be a couple of inland earlier meet points for people coming from different directions that could just follow someone who knows where they are going and not have to navigate, just follow. There's a left turn off the main road near the beach for beach access for vehicles to get past a pedestrian beach right by where the river meets ocean/pier area. It is marked with signage. Then you go left or north for 20 miles of beach action.

Yes that does make sense, still sucks though just that you have to deal with that and all, and the fact that, that makes 1 less person there. Good luck with it all
