Right next to Sargent Texas:D It is within Matagorda County about an hour towards Galveston from Matagorda. It is down 521 for me pretty much. Right next to the San Bernard Wildlife Refuge. Umm, google maps is the easiest way to explain it.

I think the best turn out would probably be something closer to houston though.

Surfside is also an option. Not far and the beaches are clean...most of the time.

San Luis Pass on west end of Galveston Island has some fun stuff and there is shade under the bridge going accross toward Surfside. There is a place called Bryan Beach State Park accross river mouth from Surfside on the Freeport/Quintana Beach side that is free access and has several miles of beach to drive on. Not that much to drive on in Surfside itself but plenty between Surfside & San Luis Pass - about 35 miles or so.

Sargeant is between Freeport & Matagorda. At the end of Matagorda where it ends at water going north, Sargeant is the houses you can see accross on the other side.

Foreground = north end of Matagorda & accross the water would be Sargeant..........

I have been to San Luis Pass once, fun stuff. Easy to get stuck in though depending on where you go.

I'm going back down to Matagorda this Saturday to camp overnight.
I'll down will whatever to wheel again. San Luis Pass is pretty cool. Fishing is always good there too.
