Went in there earlier this week needing to buy some rims for my truck. So I ask him to price a few different ones. I told him I'm price shopping before I buy.

He asks me where I've been looking, so I say online... so that sets him off ranting and raving about why I'm not doing local dealers a favor by shopping online, and that even though his prices are more, I'll get better service with him. Then about why not supporting local businesses is unamerican. And he goes on and on.

So I'm like, "Dude, I want to get the best deal, if you can't give it to me, then I'm not buying from you" and then i just got up and left.

But man, he turned into an ass once I mentioned I'm looking around on the web for my rims as well as local shops.

Needless to say I will never shop there or go there again. Owner is a douche

It happens. If small business owners would see both sides of the coin and give people a good deal it wouldn't be so bad, some of them are stand up people, others are just in business to rip people off.

the shop owner could be struggling and you just happened to set him off. the store most likly is his life. its how he supports his family and the families of the people that work for him. shopping "localy" well always cost more do to the volume of sales not being able to compete with national chains. think about all the wallmarts built. every new wall mart built in a town closes on average five local shops. im old enough to remember this happening. he should have handled you more professionally though.
    oh well its life :notsure:

Oh I totally understand the whole supporting local stores but seriously..... the rims are going to cost me $200 more buying it from him than buying them online.... now I dont know about you guys but $200 is a lot to me.

if it were only a few dollars more, than I'd probably buy local, but if it's a few hundred ( and you're just an average working class) dude, who in their right mind would spend $200 more for the same items
