Head usually a few hundred. But you cant get it back to spec because they have to shave it down. Doing a motor swap might be an easier way around it. Those 3.4 motors from a junk yard should be less than a grand. Or if japan has the 3.4 in thier trucks yiu could find one with low milage from an importer

I was hoping you'd chime in. Looking specifically at an FX4 EcoBoost.

FX4 with ECO Boost or a Raptor?

It seems everyone but ford is coming out with a diesel for their full size pickups. Ram put a fiat diesel in their 1500, nissan confirmed they are putting a cummins into their Titan, and Toyota said they are considering doing the same. Of course Toyota said they are unfortunately considering a Hybrid truck as well. I personally see little use for such a truck. I think its a smarter move to go with diesel for the towing power.

Ford i believe is sticking firm with ecoboost.

    Edit:
Never mind, i type slow. Sorry

Didnt know the intended purpose of the truck sorry. With only a base price gap of $2k i would probably go with a Raptor. But as far as gas mileage goes, i agree that the Raptor isnt worth it. I would probably buy a PowerWagon way before i ever considered a Raptor though.

Sorry, didn't mean it like that. if I want a baja truck I'll build one. This truck won't see much offroad action if I do get it. If I go the F-150 route i'll be looking to pick up a 84-85 4Runner for a wheeling rig

I saw the Tundra Platinum and 1794 Edition at the dealership this weekend and now I'm considering going a similar route as you. Buy a nice truck as a DD and build a dedicated rig that won't cause you heartache when it's beaten all to hell.

The new Tundra's are growing on me, but I'm not sold on them yet. I think the F-150, followed by the new Sierra are the best looking full-size trucks right now. The thing that has me leaning this way over getting a new Tacoma and DD/wheeling it is the fact that it's not gonna leave me stranded if it breaks. Tow my rig to the park, beat on it all weekend, and then tow it home. It doesn't help that some of the guys I wheel with have pretty sweet setups!

My neighbor just got a new Tundra. Not sure what trim level it is but it's white and everything is color matched. Looks ok minus all the chrome

Yes, Kase, you're the only one. If only I had an extra 24k laying around.

I would do this in a heartbeat.

I still miss my old Golf. 200hp and 400ftlbs, and it still got 40mpg+

I dunno. The new GMC's are gorgeous for a truck, and I think GM has really stepped up their game with both the Sierras and Silverados. Maybe the new Fords will change my mind (I'm getting a new one for work in <2months) but everything I've seen of the new GM trucks I've liked. With that being said, the only thing I don't like about the Tundras, other than the MSRP, is the clearance. Looks like a CR-V has more clearance than the Tundras. I'm sure that's not true but the perception is there.

I'm not a fan of all the chrome. But after seeing one without it it looks a lot better

So, after doing a little shopping online I'm definitely buying the truck in Texas if I decide to get one. 38-42k vs. 48-52k in Louisiana for the exact same truck
