Holy fuck I hate Houston drivers! This is seriously one of the most "aggressive" driving cities I've ever driven in. Anybody on beltway 8, northside, close to 249 just west of the toll plaza around 230pm today?

I was the goofy dude in a pilot uniform neck bracing a moderate to severely injured man who decided to go 90mph and try to cut from his lane behind a slower vehicle into the lane to the left just in front of a minivan with a mother and young daughter but totally mistimed it and ended up taking all of us out at high speed and almost killing himself and multiple other innocent folks.
I have to give credit to my brand new "used" Tacoma, at 76 mph with sudden max brake application and a rather sharp turn to the left followed by erratic dodging left and right turns, it DIDN'T MISS A BEAT!! That thing handled better than many cars I've had in the past including a camaro. Not only did I barely avoid being creamed into the concrete wall by the other truck, I was able to maneuver away from hitting the van with the mom and daughter, another vehicle as well as a minefield of debris including a full size truck tire (full wheel which sheared off) not to mention the concrete retaining wall as well. I still don't know how exactly I walked away unscathed. The taco's front end however took a beating and got a good bit of debris damage from the 5000 parts that flew off his truck as it slammed into the wall in front of me.

Anyway, after bracing his neck and trying to keep him calm for 20 minutes, the emt's arrived and he was the only one rushed to the hospital. Everyone else came out unscathed but obviously shaken. I find it disturbing that the damn tow truck drivers were there faster than the paramedics???

Felt the need to post this (as I drink a scotch and calm down a little from the day's event ) to say that my respect level, safety wise, for the Tacoma went up two-fold today. I have absolutely no problem putting myself and my family in one of these trucks after seeing first hand today the ability of this truck to maneuver out of a bad situation, even at high speed.

    Be careful out there guys!

Houston traffic sucks but I just for back from New York. Their traffic and drivers suck even more. No one uses turn signals, stays in their lanes or drives the speed limit. They all cut each other off and pull out in front of you. If there is no place to park just stop in the middle of the road while cars drive into oncoming traffic to get around.
    Pretty crazy place to drive.

Glad you're ok. There are some nutty drivers out there. Yesterday on the way to work I saw a guy brake check an oversized dump truck! He was lucky the truck wasn't fully loaded. I was hoping the truck would just plow through the car, but the truck was able to stop. Bear in mind this was on the beltway exit from I10 going West.
