If rear ended hard enough, yoy should be more worried about the frame than the littl tailgate Lol

Plus, it would be better for the first bumper being so thin, that way small cars would go under the bunper vs smashing into it

And yes like this picture the bumper kase had built first would of been perfect, and little car that rear ends a truck is going to nose dive under the truck. So any beefier wouldnt help in rear end situation

Well how high was the first one? Is the hitch exposed like trucks with body lifts? Lol
Im sure the hitch adds a little mire support like an x brace. Stop the frame from flexing so kuch

very cool! love seeing one man shop startups. hits home for me ;)

little advise for if you decide bumpers are going to be your thing. make a jig. when i do roof and bed racks, I spend a lot of time and effort making sure the main frame or structural pieces are symetrical from side to side. afer that, the rest of the pieces pretty much fall into place, level, true, and symetrical. it's not the case with bumpers. being that there's no perimiter or "main" section to them, if you build them without a jig, symetry becomes a much more time consuming task.

jsut something i learned the last few years. hell, even a well build wooden jig does a good job. just don't catch it on fire
