Alex got the build kit from 4xinnovations that had the hinge, latch, and mounting plate. Other than that, almost a full 20’ stick of 2x3 3/16th wall, a stub piece of 2” square tubing I had laying around, and a few shiners for mind lube to help us think lol.

May just do that, looks like it could easily buy two them and make a dual swing out. Need to study their page on TW and see what others have done.

Oh yeah, wouldn’t be a big deal to do duals. It’s a really impressive kit for the hinge and latch, especially for the price. We went with what Alex had in his mind and I really like how it came together, but with that kit the possibilities are endless.

    Mornin Matt!

4xinnovations sells the latch and the hinge kits. If you buy both it comes out to $168

The total cost including the steel and the wheel studs came out to $262. How much steel would you say was left over, Kent (@DiamondW) 4-5 feet total?

If either of you want a hand y'all just give me a shout and I'll do what I can! And by that I mean stand around drinking beer or getting in the way and making a big mess :D

    :tinfoilhat:

Thank you, Matt! You should see it in person. It looks and functions flawless

Edit: corrected predictive text. give me a shout, not a shit! :bananadead:

I’ve never wanted a swingout but seeing that has me second guessing that thought. You coming out the 21st to HF?

Yeah, total I would say about 4 ft.

Thanks Matt, I’m real happy with what we were able to do.

It's comforting knowing I've got a full sized spare aboard and I finally got all that extra ground clearance back.
That's the plan! Pretty certain we will be camping the 20-21st and will be leaving the afternoon of the 21st but that's subject to change at any time without notice.

Ya just want to read up before I pull the trigger on this, but this is looking to be a full definite plan.

    Great pic

    Here's the hinge

    https://www.4xinnovations.com/Swing-Out-Tire-Carrier-Hinge-Assembly_p_109.html

    And here's the latch

    https://www.4xinnovations.com/Swing-Out-Tire-Carrier-Latch-Assembly_p_110.html

The spindle is really nice, the latch is simple, effective, and easy. 10 out of 10, would buy again. It doesn't look like it would be incredibly difficult to use for a dual swing out and they offer driver and passenger side hinges.

Happy to be the beer gopher and bad idea generator

A little bit of work this afternoon won a major victory with bed space! I got my CO2 can and my Hi-Lift moved to the swing-out. Now I can start working on the platform with some rolling drawers under in the (hopefully near) future.

One of the metal shops at the airport had some 3/16th plate that was perfect. A 6-pack later it's welded up nice and clean.

Mounted the can and the jack

And added a cable lock that uses the truck key to unlock it

I'll squeeze in a Sceptre can between the tire and the can later.

    :woot:
