Just sucks. Take some pics when ya get it apart. Even if ya got to spend a little extra to get it correct in the long run it would be worth it.

    I completely agree.
I had considered taking the whole thing to a machine shop so they could get both mating surfaces perfectly smooth. The cast for the box itself was garbage. It's not smooth at all on the outside so I can only imagine the mating surfaces are the same way. On the Marlin cases, it looks like that's something they addressed and may have resolved.

Good idea they might be able to surface mill it straight and add groves for o-rings

Hadn't thought of the o-rings till you brought it up. It's worth a shot.

I think what I will do is try resealing the entire thing first. If it's still pissing oil after that, I'll take it to a machine shop and go from there. If it's still pissing oil after that, I will suck it up and live with a pissy crawl box. Or just put in a fucking Atlas II and be done with it..

When ya have it apart get some prusion blue and put on it and tighten it up and see what your pattern is. Take pics. It will show you high and lows in the castings. You might see it’s not worth it. Maybe you can take the highs of by hand.

Ya, me too. I'd love an extra set of hands. That lift of yours would be super convenient too.

    Yep.
I expected it to gush out around the shifter until it found a happy level but I wasn't expecting it to leak everywhere else.

Hey Alex hope your having a relaxing Sunday.
I’ve got a question since your pretty knowledgeable in this been looking up fj case swaps this weekend. I can’t seem to find if I’d have to get new driveshafts or not? it appears like the fj case is a bit shorter.

Ya man, just cracked a beer and light the grill. Doing as good as can be. Hope your Easter is going the same!

Your wouldn't need new drive shafts, they're the same case, just different methods of actuation. I also highly recommend the FJ tube as well. It's very, very easy and it'll save you a huge headache in the future.

Awesome sounds great I’ll be cracking a few after work.
That’s what I’ve been gathering the fj tube and case with dual sticks I’m really getting on board with that idea I’ve just not had any issues with the electronic stuff yet.

    What sticks you going with?
Excited about cutting a big ass hole in the tub?
There is a silver lining to that: if you ever decide a crawl box is for you, you shouldn't have to change the hole.

One of those things that fucks you unexpectedly from what I've seen.

    Eh, I've done worse.
Drunk-me is responsible for at least half the build. I got no complaints.
But drink-me must have gotten a bit ambitious and forgot there's a plague running about so sober-me had to reel it in a bit.

Not sure about any of that I wanted to make sure the driveshafts fit first and the big hole won’t bother me.

The Front Range Off Road sticks were real nice when I had them.
