I know a few things but there's always more to learn, right? I have helped swap a 4 to a 6 in a first gen taco but I've never done any performance tuning on one. Regardless, I'm excited at the prospect!

Absolutely, im always in to learn! I think it'd be badass to tear one of these motors apart and put it all back together. It's got me excited too..

How serious are you about swapping a diesel in your truck? I think this would be a damn interesting project, would love to wrench on it with ya

Also, figured i'd throw this out there, i will buy both your trans and t-case as well if you swap these out in the future. Cant hurt to have a spare tranny/motor/tcase right?

Been reading up on these little engines, they are really solid with the correct maintenance. Entertaining this install in my 97.

Like I said, I'm a bit obsessed at this point. I am 80% certain. I say 80 because I'm concerned about the electrical side of this. I know I can make the engine work. I don't know if I'll be able to make the truck accept it. Got a lot of research left to do.

It's all yours, bud! And any computers or electronics I won't need as well.

Lol that will constantly be snapping... Everything! Gonna need a Dana 60 and 500lbs over the rear axle just to get any kind of traction

If you do decide to go through with it, count me in to help with the install.

The 371 would be all you need and could run hydraulics of the asesories drive

That would be a sweet option. I had a MileMarker hydraulic winch on my old Rubicon, that winch was amazing. You could run it non-stop and it would pull anything.

Sent a email to my Bud about taking a 6 speed HD Alison tranny build it with 3 forward gears an reverse but all manual shift. Not sure but think this would be an awesome combo behind either diesel. Offroad only

With the 371 you should have the power to push it through most anything with a 3-speed, but why not keep the 6 for a range of gear options?

Wanted to stick with a low geared only tranny. I would never use the top end of the transmission. I think but now you got me thinking
