Well, just going off of the pics they sent of the case I'm getting

    2CBE0E2B-B80B-42EF-9BC2-A323EE00D589.jpg

It looks like they're sending everything from the case up to the shift knob so unless they cut any other boot off it looks like that's all it comes with. On the boot itself, it looks like there is a ring bitched around the base of the boot. I'm assuming that's where it comes through the body to the interior.

I dunno, it's hard to say.

After looking at them a bit more, I will definitely be putting one in my shop at my next home. I didn't realize they were that affordable, I seriously thought they were like $8k :tinfoilhat:

Alex, found out that the A/T FJ t-case shifter has a boot and they are readily available. It is smaller and separate, but i think i can make it work. part number 58280-35330.

Here is a shitty pic, but you can kinda see it.

So now that i am considering using a different boot, i am wondering what all goes into twin sticks, and if it's something i should do while i have the truck apart. I am not going to be crawling and the truck is likely going to remain a pavement pounder, but should i do this since i already have everything out? I guess im curious on what there is to gain out of twin sticks, and can it be run with the ADD delete?? Sell me on them haha..

Well if you plan to add the FJ tube and do away with the ADD altogether you'll need the twin sticks to make use of 2Lo. If you keep the ADD you can have 2lo with a single stick but you'll have to wire up a switch to engage/disengage the ADD for 4wd.

If you're going to do it, may as well do it while it's out. Do it once do it right, ya know? For your truck, I'd keep the ADD, wire the switch, and go single stick for sexy interior cleanliness.

To install twin sticks you'll have to modify the arms inside the case. It's not hard, you're just removing some extra material so one control arm can slide past the other. Shouldn't take more than an hour or so to split the case, install the input shaft, remove the extra material, install the twins, and put everything back together.

Hmmm.. this has me thinking.. I am definitely getting rid of the ADD, mainly because i want to convert to AWD down the road when i need a new tranny (starting to have a few issues with the current one). I am thinking when the time comes, ill buy the RA61 and the AWD t-case from the MT FJ and just swap everything out and have my driveshafts modified at that time. With the AWD case, the twin sticks might not be compatible, so maybe i shouldn't do that simply because ill be taking it back out later.. The appeal of 2wd lo is definitely there though.. How much did the twin stick setup cost you for everything else i would need?

I am also trying to plan for the long term as far as my floor cutting/modifications go. I want to make sure that wherever i put the shifter for this case, i wont have to modify much later to get the other one to work. I think the AWD case only sits back another inch or so, so i think ill be okay here. Since i am thinking ill use the smaller auto t-case shifter boot, I wont likely have to cut as much now, and then i can just enlarge the hole later when i switch to AWD and maybe i can find a M/T boot by then so it covers the larger hole. Just trying to think things through for the long term, i know i should convert it to AWD from the get-go, but i dont feel like trying to work on all of that right now. Still want an FJ case though and i can delete the ADD and be well on my way towards my long term goals.

That does sound pretty easy.. now that you mention modifying the arms in the case, i remember seeing a picture of the case there and that makes a lot of sense.

Do you have a date set for the FJ case install on your truck?

    Hmmmmmm.

    Ok, my thoughts.

    You might not like it.

Don't put the FJ case in the red truck. Just wait and do the AWD conversion all at once and save the FJ case for the turtle. There's a module out on TW that'll basically prevent the ADD from locking in the front diff and you can use low range without engaging the front wheels.

That said, I would love to see the FJ case in my garage in your truck! The twin sticks I got were on sale for $189, $10 off. That's literally all you need. I'll put up a link for you here in a minute. I do not believe they will be compatible with the AWD but I know nothing about that transfer case at the moment so I could be wrong.

I'm also not sure about the shifter locations but if they're that close, it shouldn't be an issue. Plus I think between the two of us installing two FJ cases we could develope a good way to seal up the hole.

Again, I think that's the best option. It'll look clean AF. 3 sticks in a race truck is too many. I'd be worried about bumping an extra stick on accident when trying to grab the next gear.

Assuming I get the twin sticks in, I'm going to swap out the shifter before Saturday so I can give it to you. Side from that, nothing in stone. I imagine I'll want to get at it as soon as I get back from Utah.
