Yeah, I would imagine it would increase the chance of having some problems down the road. I am not familiar enough with that suspension to know how much adding a taller tire would hurt it. I would think it's less forgiving than your typical shock. Again, only assuming.

I actually waited on this truck before buying my last Taco and researched it like crazy. It is good for what it is but everything I read tends to indicate it is a modding nightmare. I generally don't mod much but want that option. I watched several videos where the engineers clearly said the tires on it are as big as the suspension can carry and "the stock tires are it" so it makes me wonder how GM is going to treat you when you show up with a problem and have 33s on it. I don't know and think there are a lot of unknowns out there. Almost everyone agrees that the shocks and suspension are the only thing that sets the truck apart. If you have to lose that for larger tires don't you just have another Colorado?

I have owned a ton of new GM vehicles in my life and I'm done with them. My last few have been the worst vehicles I've ever owned. I couldn't imagine being straddled with another one (we have a 2016 Yukon as a result of the 2015 being bought back by GM). I am sure folks will figure out how to mod those trucks but I do wonder how much GM will be behind them when stuff breaks.

You must be new. Welcome to the thunder dome! What particular Tacoma model and trim do you have? I doesn't matter it is a flaming pile of shit! And no less than 20 people will tell you so. This is Tacomaworld where Tacoma owners go to shit on each other. It is like frat hazing on the internet.

Honestly, how many people actually need a front locker? And how many CV axles do you think Toyota wants to replace under warranty because Average Joe engaged his front locker when he was stuck in his yard and popped both?

Yea I'm 58 years new lmao !! Been playing with Jeeps Tacomas land rovers and a really freaking cool Nissan patrol I got out of Canada !! Not to mention a couple of land cruisers. The hazing is pretty mild ...as for my 2017 Tacoma DBLCLB TRD offroad , I got it because I just finished the build on my JKU and kinda started jonesing for a project ! Have 1900k on it so still having fun with it and lining up the mod's I think I need:). Previous taco was 2004 DBLCSB TRD offroad supercharged and was just great. Turned 243k when a friend convinced me to sell it! I love Toyota and especially these little trucks !
Never a regret for owning one, and never have been left stranded on road or off in one !
    Viva la taco :)

The dealer would probably tell them to go pound sand ha I don't think it would be a risk I'd take. Then again 31's would be plenty for what I do so I wouldn't have to worry. But I could never spend 40k+ on any midsize. Especially a first year model.

I would be running from them, too! I have driven a Tacoma my entire life. Learned on a manual one when I was 8. No major issues ever so I am a bit biased at times ha But I only have one friend who owns a 3rd gen. Strictly city driven. He had to have it towed while he was on his way to his very first oil change.. Broke down on i5. I have two coworkers with '16 colorados. One gets taken into the cascades almost every weekend. Zero issues with that one. The other had to have the head unit reset. Father, uncle, and huntin buddy all drive duramax and pull heavy. No issues either. This is why I still don't have a new truck out front. I love the Tacoma, but id rather wait another year just to see how things go.

I have to disagree with this. At my local dealers, there is only about $2k difference between the SR5 and the TRD OR. I think $2k is worth it, imho, for the suspension, wheels and tires, and the rear locker and crawl control. I'm sure most people will never use those things, and people that do off-road will want to upgrade them anyway, but to someone who wants a very capable stock truck, I think it is worth it.

I hear ya! Your Taco blood runs deep! I waited until this year to get the 3rd gen and have had no issues EXCEPT that stupid howling rear diff. Maybe I should have waited another year. Otherwise mine has been flawless. Once the rear diff issues are behind me I'm a happy camper. My second gen was a great truck too. Toyota has given me no reason to leave them. The only thing that might change for me is that I may leave my traditional long bed and go with a short bed next time just for the better turning radius. I don't haul much so I don't need the long bed. I like the looks of the long bed better in person but oddly think the short bed looks better in pictures. Oh well, not sure how I went in that rant! :)
