Boy. I would be shocked if toyota dropped that new 3.5L twin turbo that kicks out 415hp and 442 lb ft of torque from the 2018 Lexus LS in the Tacoma.

If they did that I would run to the dealership immediately to buy one.

Well, the turbos may possibly "bolt on" to our engines.

It's awesome... but IMO, no true competitor of the raptor. They're simply on two different playing fields...

:fingerscrossed: I hope Toyota decides to at least introduce turbo engines in their line up in the future. If they are doing them to their lexus models they could at least offer revised motors for Toyota models.

Yeah, that it does! I still enjoy my 1st gen, but I'm getting the itch for something new. When it comes down to it I'll most likely be in a 3rd gen next like yourself. Probably an sr5 though.

Now if these rigs were just a bit cheaper I'd probably already be in one ha But that's the way things usually go.

I have owned too many new cars and trucks over the years so my best advice is don't stretch yourself too much on any vehicle. I like my 3rd gen a lot more than my 2nd gen. It is much more refined, far quieter, and only tacks 2000 rpm at 82 mph where my second gen was really strained at that speed. The SR5 is a nice truck, best grill of them all.

Yes, that is great advice! The thing is I can afford a new truck right now. It's just so so very nice not having a truck payment. I know I would like the 3rd gen more than my 1st. I test drove an off road and loved everything about it, BUT the brake pedal that buzzed every 3 out of 5 presses. That drove me bonkers!

I think I'm at 3000rpm @ 70mph with my truck. But I usually get over 18mpg highway with my lift and tires doing 70-75. Not bad for a 21 yo 247k mile truck!

Agreed, Most of the people asking about a front locker wouldn't even know what to do with it. Its amusing really the most off-roading they've ever done is driving over their front lawn by accident and they're talking about lockers lmao.

Eh I personally wouldn't consider the TRD Pro Tundra proper competition for a Raptor. The raptor basically comes stock with an LT kit (read new UCA, LCA's and half axles which all together create a much wider track and provide significantly more travel) and 35 ATs. TRD Pro Tundra just has some upgraded bilsteins on an otherwise identical platform and street tires...

2k difference? Are you sure about that? At first I thought it was a typo but I saw you typed it twice.

Lol yeah they definitely could have done more in the back. Probably struggled with the whole payload vs offroad capability conflict

Agreed. Test drove one today. That's a bad truck. Not a Raptor competitor, but still bad.

At my local dealers, they are asking 34k and change for an SR5 4x4, 36k and change for TRD OR 4x4. I'm sure you could negotiate on either, but I am just going strictly on asking price.

Too many but also not enough mods
No Tundra TRD Pro for 2018. Hopefully Toyota gives the Tundra and 4runner a redesign for 2019, it's long overdue.
