My son lives in San Mateo and my fiancee's brother in Nevada City--fortunately neither are in areas affected by the fires.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

If you want to make a donation to the Red Cross to help with recovery, you can do so here--designate California Wildfires in the drop-down box.

And by the way, I realize civilian firefighters are not in the military, but on this Veteran's Day let's give a special thanks for them as well as the law enforcement officers and military members who give up their own comfort and safety to help out in a time of crisis like this.

Paradise California is gone. The entire town burned down. My uncle built his family’s home up there. They moved away a few years ago but have family and friends still living in Paradise. So far everyone they know is alive but have lost everything. I spent a lot of time up there growing up so it hits close to home.

The videos and pictures of this are unreal, the fire spread so fast. I’m scared to think how high the death toll will rise when they can finally get out and check all the burnt homes/structures/vehicles.

Lots of relief is needed, I’m hoping to load my truck this coming Friday and drive up with supplies to donate.

    Insured and we can rebuild.

Appreciate the thoughts. They got out with their kids, and for that I am eternally grateful to powers above us

Things are going to get worse sun - tues

    :(

As much as I want to pray for not losing my primary residence, times like this we can’t be selfish. I am hoping we have no more loss of life in the area. Hope all stays safe ...

We can just hope for the best in this time of trials, as we sit helplessly by

Thoughts with you guys. Incredibly shitty situation.

More than a handful of the OG Pirate guys lost everything too including Jesse at High Angle from the sounds of things.

The smoke in the general Sacramento area all weekend has been horrendous. Sacto is about 80 miles south of the "Camp" fire, which burned the town of Paradise off the map. The smoke is so think that on my drive down out of the foothills into the Sacramento valley for work, I could only see about 1/2 mile in some places. Truly terrible conditions.

My grandparents lived in Paradise from 1972 - 1995, and are buried in the town cemetery. I'm sure their former house is no longer stranding. I lived in Paradise while I was attending Chico State University in the early 1990's. It is truly impossible to comprehend that an entire town of over 10,000 residents and 6,000+ houses was wiped out in less than 24 hours.

Can now see flames standing at my house looking towards the other side of lake Oroville. Looks to be burning the hills I grew up in (Berry Creek). Many more people still being evacuated due to the campfire. Sheriff of Butte County has busses on standby to evacuate people from Oroville if it comes to that (extreme measure). I'm glad he is prepared but I pray that it doesn't happen. Glad there is a big lake between me and the flames I see right now. Praying for everyone that has lost their homes and loved ones.

I own a vacant land property in the Santa Monica mountains, over the last year I've made many trips in my truck clearing an old shed and brush and branches, and I hired some guys to take down a couple large trees that were obvious fire hazards. My property was about as clean as it could get. So far my understanding is some houses burned down close to my property, unfortunately many of the houses in that area were very vulnerable to fire. Really a sad situation if a person's house is gone and no insurance.

Hey guys, just want to throw in my two cents. We (I'm not impacted by this) all appreciate the thoughts and prayers, but if you can spare it, please donate to relief organizations, drop off water to our firefighters at local stations or volunteer to help in some way. As a Christian I believe the power of prayer, but it's also helpful to physically/financially support those who need it right now, as you can imagine, this will be harder for victims especially with the Holidays just weeks away.

Lived in the Berkshire Mtns on the NY/MA line for 10 years...One of the locals said the last time he remembered a fire was decades ago. It burned itself out due to all the wet vegetation. We don't have wet vegetation in Calif., we have bone dry vegetation. Doesn't matter how it starts, conflagrations are the result. Bone dry vegetation is not caused by arsonists or campfires.

When those fires started, my humidity at the coast in Long Beach, CA was 1% for quite a few days.

Escondido, CA appears okay for now. We’re getting some wind, but not the 50mph gusts being reported in Southeast part of San Diego county. Since we’re on a hill, I can see smoke off in the far distance.

I’ve been evacuated twice from our home on El Cajon years ago... Stay sage everyone.

Sacramento is still pretty smoky today, but nothing like it was over the weekend. Couldn't make a person out at the end of the street at certain points because the smoke was so thick.

I anguish over the losses of property, and life. Keep kickin' ass Calfire.

All that said, I had a couple of coworkers in Paradise during the onset of the evacuation. They have some RIDICULOUS stories about fleeing from the fire up there. I remember working away in the office when they texted photos with flames peaking over the houses on the street they were driving down. Absolutely crazy. They made it out safe, but any more delay and they could have been among some of the people burnt alive in their cars waiting to escape.
