I was going thru the “How much has your truck changed?” thread and I noticed a lot of you have changed out that piece of chrome around the grill to match the paint. I have thought about doing it black with Plasti Dip, but it would be nice to match the paint which is called Mica Brown. Also, what is this piece of chrome called?

Photo below shows red arrow pointing to the chrome piece I’m talking about. This is a 2011 model.

I found what looks to be oem replacement grills for $100, on the interwebs. Cruising around here i think several people have plati-dipped theirs (not what i wanna do).

There was a forum about a guy in PA who makes custom grills, including a black* shroud. I'll dig up some links

I painted mine myself with spray paint. We'll see how it holds up over the years, as it's only been a month so far.

If I could go back, I would probably have just done this with the chrome one. The eBay black one is NOT painted like it looks in the picture, it's black plastic and doesn't match well. Hell I might just bedline that one eventually.

You can get a color matched OEM one and then sell the chrome one on EBay to defray the cost a bit. Probably best option if matching a color other than white or black!

I'm lazy and went with OEM even though truck is white. I've seen some nice white and black painted ones on here though.

I had mine replaced by a body shop with body color surround after I got into a wreck.

the bedliner isn't as reversible but a lot more durable than derp.

I know I spray a lot of stuff with it. Car parts and non-car parts, I love it.

edit: I haven't tried, but I bet aircraft stripper would take it off easily.

Is it mounted correctly? The gap between the lower grille and the bumper cover is quite a bit larger on the passenger side than on the driver side, as is the gap at the top of the grill where it meets the hood on the same side.
