How are you folks mounting fire extinguishers?

I have an ACOR and I've gotta stick a fire extinguisher in this thing to take it off road. Got any suggestions for good mounting spots?

 

Tagging. I have the extinguisher I took out of my Jeep and need to mount in my truck somewhere now.

I've never been able to extinguish a vehicle engine fire with an extinguisher and I've tried it a bunch...at least 10 different times on different cars/scenarios.

Therefore I don't even bother carrying one

 

There is some debate about putting out vehicle fires. The auto is likely already totalled by any fire. The auto will be totalled by the chemicals in the extinguisher. The extinguisher may be ineffective at putting out a vehicle fire. It may be dangerous to be near a burning car/ on side of highway.
I emptied an extinguisher on a small 2'x2' grass fire on the side of hwy 101 in northern California. It was late at night and there was sparse traffic. The fire would have likely grown had my fire x not been handy. I'd rather have one than not. truck camping, campfires, etc.

 

I carry it to put out human fires, nature fires, etc. They are required on many BLM lands, as well as some states require them on public off-roading trails (hence having one in my jeep).

A small extinguisher won't touch a car fire.

 

Yup, we just had one as I was leaving work. Worthless. Although I was able to extinguish a motorcycle that I was able to flag down while flames were shooting out from beneath the seat.

Mine is mounted to the bad rail with a quickfist.

 

Generally, car fires are a bit much for an extinguisher that one would carry in their vehicle. However, even though it might not put out the fire, it might buy enough time to get someone out of the vehicle.

 

Mounted on a board with the bracket that came with the unit. Board is mounted to the truck with two stainless steel screws.

 

Picture is of my blue ridge overland arb air kit in the driver's side rear compartment but you can see my fire extinguisher fits perfectly in the corner next to it.

 

This is where I want to mount mine. What size is that and what bracket are you using?

 

Bracket not required. I just left the one that came with attached just because I have enough clutter and I cant bring myself to throw it away. It fits perfectly just dropped in there. 3 lb 4 oz purchased at Wally World.

 

I like this idea, but don't you have to remove it to flip the seat up?

My friend saved his 70 Chevelle because I told him to take my extinguisher. He had a wiring harness catch fire. I upgraded to a real fire extinguisher not the small ones after that. I'm more concerned with getting someone out of a vehicle than stopping a car from burning.
