All states mandate that any amount of ethanol is printed on the dispensing pump. Any amount above 1% 50 state wide, some are any what-so-ever.

I get between 14 and 16 highway. But that is with 35x12.50 mudders going over the blue ridge every day, twice a day.

    How is the noise?

I have duratracs I'm ditching because it turns out I have been doing A LOT of on road driving.

They say they are good on road and decent off road.

Mind saying what you paid for them? I just got a quote at 252 a tire same size as yours....

I would look at your heavy wheels and tires. I lost 5mpg (highway) going from stock 265/70/16 to 265/75/16 10ply. I still get about 19-20 highway (summer months). 25mpg was a lot better

It's all about rpm. I averaged 21 last summer in my 1st gen 4x4 but I kept the rpms just under 2k and drove like an old lady. Also make sure you recalculate mileage I'd you have bigger tires

If I drive like an old man (easy on the throttle, keep it around 2000 rpm), I get in the 20ish range. 20.4 mpg on the last tank.

I just filled up today after driving around on vacation, a little light 4 wheeling and driving a bit aggressively, still got 18mpg.. barely, but I did (second worse mpg so far).

Makes me wonder if there are people out there that really drive that much less efficiently or if there's other issues. Maybe they're really altitude sensitive?

And after reading a few mpg threads, I also question people's ability to actually calculate their mileage.

Bingo. Calculating mileage involves a lot of conditions. Without keeping a large collection/database on exact what mods were done to what vehicles and their respective mileage, we may try comparing a person's mileage with 3" lift and 33's to a stock regular cab. And that's just not fair

My average listed below is in my stock DCLB V6 A/T with 240lbs of sandbags over the rear axle driving in pretty sissy winter conditions (no snow most of the time :\).

I don't mean the apples to apples comparison of MPG.. I mean the actual calculations escape people.
How many times have you read:
    Q:"what's your MPG?"
    A: "325 miles"

That too can be a problem, but I think most know it's in MPGs

If you don't fill up all the way and try to calculate mileage, chances are good you'll be optimistically calculating ($20 of gas at $3.20/gal, odo ended at 700 from 500 so drove 200 miles, but fuel gauge went from 1/2 to 3/4 - this is inaccurate because you did not go 200 miles on 1/4 tank).

And to calculate based on where the gauge is [such as at 1/4 tank] is highly inaccurate.

Numbers are your friend with MPG calculations - pure, hard numbers...

I'm still pretty sure the one time I got 17.4 was because the time before that, the gas seemed to foam or something and the nozzle didn;t fit my car well so it didn't fill the same. and we're talking less than a gallon difference, so.. yea. There's no way to figure it perfect... THat's why you have to do it every time.

and you're being generous thinking most people know how to calculate it. I talk with EVERYONE i run into, first 2 questions, what do you drive, what kind of mileage that get... most .. and I mean MOST... 8 in 10, have no idea how to even calculate it.

My experience on here is its about the same. My electronic mpg-o-meter is absolutely wrong. its accurate, but not precise. It reads like 8-10 mpg high.

I am assuming people calculate mileage somewhat correctly. And what I've seen on this forum has shown it is calculated to some degree of accuracy, but leaving out key differences (weight, lifts, mods, etc). If the number is between 1 and 25mpg, my belief is that they must have done some sort of math to get there, hopefully involving miles traveled vs gallons ;)

a good chunk of em think they have some idea of how big the fuel tank is.. then they divide by 4 to get how much it is when they fill at 1/4.
No one knows what the INSIDE volume of the tank is.

    What everyone needs is.. [IMG]

It's about 10% off from the spedo.

My GPS keeps track of it for me. Along with average speed, time moving, time spent idle and max speed. I've double checked everything with google maps using a known distance (to work).

It might have been regeared? I know on jeeps it wasn't too bad to check, not sure about this guy yet..

Trying to get a few more mpg. I started yesterday increasing tire pressure. All 4 were at 30, so I'm gonna keep going up 5psi every tank until I hit max, don't like the ride, or the mpg doesn't go up.
