You guys are all complaining that your trucks can’t cruise nicely at 70 on the highway, while I’m over here with an ‘03 4 banger that can barely even hit 70, and when it does it’s close to 4000 rpms. It’s a truck not a sports car lol

Yes. The powerband doesn't start until 3600rpm. Put it in 4th on climbs. You're hurting your truck by not doing that. 3rd for when you need more.

If anyone wants to be upset about not having power towards the lower rpm range, I can't argue with that other than they should have looked for a different truck. But to say this truck can't move is just not true. Why do you think almost all MT owners on here like their trucks. It's because we know what gear to put it in so the truck can do work.

Zero issues with these passes. Even with a bass tracker 20170827_090216.jpg

I routinely drive I-70 passes in Colorado (Eisenhower and Vail) and when the tranny starts doing the 4-5-6 shuffle, I put it in S4, motor up at 55-60 and enjoy the scenery. No screaming guts at 75 mph for me. It's a truck, not a Dodge Demon Hellcat.

    ^ gets it.

Sometimes it's just a matter on filling people in. So I never hold it against anyone. The only dumb questions are the ones not asked.

Hey we just came back to the California desert from Colorado. We did the Durango to Silverton drive. Wow! My Wife and I can not wait to go back and spend some more time in and around Durango.

Yep, we have stayed in Snowmass and Denver before and driven Wolf Creek Pass but the Durango to Silverton and on the Grand Junction blew our minds.

Bart, Do a search for Colorado Scenic Byways for some ideas for your next trip. Also check out FunTreks Backroads & 4WD books for Colorado and Utah.

Fyi, 4th gear. And I'll take input from other MT driver's, but general consensus is that the power starts at 3200-3400

It’s bexause you’re only steering the vehicle. Next time buy a manual.

I'd say 3200 pushes you back in your seat, but anything you give it above 2500 it acts like it wants more.

5th at 65mph gives you plenty of power, providing you're not heavy or towing something.
