hey Spey, can you please post a photo? I tested out mine in the last storm of about 1.5" rain. I got a small amount of water in the bed near the cab. Planning on sleeping in the bed while camping. I don't want to wake up in the middle of the night with soggy pillows and bedding.

there is no fool-proof way to avoid a few drops of water getting in. You won’t have soggy pillows I believe. Use plenty of rubber silicone and then bead it with your finger to look nice. It can always be ripped out since it’s silicone. Mine is old, and dirty. Best pic I got.

I have had a soft topper on:

    Raptor/Tundra
    Two Tacoma’s
    Two Dodge Ram 2500’s
    One GMC 3500.

Not one has leaked anything significant inside. We use the softopper mostly for dogs, but it has been known to double as a camping tent as well. Highly recommend.

Great thing about these is when you need the bed again, easy to break down and fold forward with the boot.
I switch back in forth a lot due to having gooseneck trailers.

Thanks for this picture, I think I understand where you are putting the silicone. I have no idea how much silicone, or what product I need to get exactly. You are talking about a caulk product, correct? Thanks..

After seam sealing the topper doesn't leak at all. I get water ingress from the front covers of the box and from under the plastic bed side caps.

I am so far behind the curve on the lingo. Don't know what "front covers from of the box" means or "under the plastic bed side caps" LOL, but no worries, I'm making progress, I think! thanks

I used rubber marine grade silicon, but there could be better products. To be honest, this could have been done better as far as job quality

I love mine and have no issue with water intrusion...except when I close the gate and the ST rear window is tucked in.(never installed the sealing Velcro or seam sealing material)

The versatility of folding it down when too tall of stuff needs be hauled is a winning asset...not sure if you can fold it down with a rack over the top of the STer.

I do love rolling up the sides and back window in warm weather and " rolling safari mode". I get all sort of random peeps asking about the ST when I do that.

I have had mine on for 3 years in central NH never had a leak. Winter of 2020/2021 had over 38" of snow on it ,it did settle some but popped right back.I think we average 45+ inches of rain annually.

Just a few drips but nothing that would soak or ruin anything in the bed.
