Well I got out a few months ago but when I left I was an e6 about to make e7. The soldier I actually did counsel surprisingly listened to me. He was about to purchase a challenger and thought he could afford an 850 a month payment. Being only 19 and never actually having been on his own he never even realized he would need to insurance.

In the end he wound up buying a nice used bmw 325 which is still a lot for a brand new private but was by far way more manageable financially.

Soldiers don’t take into account other things like in our case security clearances. If he were to end up in debt going to collections he would ultimately lose his security clearance and be separated. There’s a lot of third order effects that soldiers need to think about prior to making these decisions

ok so since everyone wants an update here we go. my dealership friend got back to me saying that he spoke to the owner of the other dealership and they add 2 gs to them and they sell all the time cuz they only get 3-4 a year. but he he said the screwed up part is that the salesman lied straight to my face so he suggested i go somewhere else. which i was about to. but then i thought like my friend and few people on here said. i can afford it and its exactly what i want so i think i might just bite the bullet. also the dickhead didnt even give me military discount when i asked for it. so i went online and printed out the deal that clearly says 500$ off and new toyota vehicle. so i think is what ill do is wait till he calls me saying its in and go in and ask the lady at the front desk if i can deal with another salesman cuz im disgusted with the other one. once i do that im gonna throw them the military discount paper and if they give it to me ill take it. yes im paying over msrp but for what ive seen on auto trader in my tri state area its about the going rate and i dont have patience to look and call every dealership for this awesome deal that everyone keeps telling i can get (unless someone would like to help me) let me know what u guys think. i havent spoke to him since so he still think all is dandy and that im gonna come pick it up when it comes in. oh and is there a website i can review dealerships on? also anyone interested in a first gen on long island?? lol

Job specific. He was intel. If he were to lose his clearance he would be unable to do his job. Most likely they would separate him rather than a reclass. It would obviously be a drastic measure but his clearance would be suspended it the meantime

That was a tough paragraph to read. You went to a dealership and specifically asked for a military discount knowing that they're upmarking the TRD Pro. Once you sign the papers, they'll head to the back, pop open a bottle of champagne, and celebrate on how they ripped off another service member/customer. With that said, congrats on the truck. Waiting on my 2019 Trd Pro to be built and shipped.

Ha yes I was intel but I never went to
Goodfellow for the MOS training. TDYs yes but not my actual training. Most of army intel is done at Huachuca. You do signals?

    Point proven @sdsurfer @WBF610 @TailHook

The only life on the line is mine, every morning at 5:50 when I’m driving down the 15 and and those same douschers cut across 4 lanes or traffic in front of me in their hellcats, Camaros and wranglers trying to get to the base on time. Afforded by the discounts I have to give them.

All that ish you guys are talking about fighting, and freedom applies to about 1/4 of enlisted military.
And if you are one of them then no offense intended, i appreciate what you do and the opportunities you afford all of us.
But the other 3/4 are just there for the handouts because they couldnt do anything better with themselves.
And those are the ones I’m referring to.

Dealer can charge whatever. Supply and demand, if however its built is so rare they can raise the price. When the ninja 250 got a much needed facelift in 2008 they were 4kish. They were hard to get and gas was high so everyone wanted one. Since it was rare I could get around 1500 extra. If they called and did not like it or said they could get a better deal then id always have someone else come pick it up in 24-48 hours that was willing to pay.

Call others dealers don't be afraid to get your money back. It might be hard to find but not too hard to build and wait.

The money you save avoiding depreciation can be used on a decent lift.

Not on a pro but I had a dealer try to sneak 2500 in at signing. I got up and walked away. I always do my buying through the internet fleet sales manager. Check out true price and let them contact dealers. You will get 3-4 dealers hit you with prices. Take the lowest one and if they dont have your car ask for the color. I did this with my truck and they ended up trading for the truck from the same dealer that tried to sneak the 2500 in. You can do all the negotiating without even going into the show room except to ink the papers.

On your other point I have had dealer say they cant negotiate on rare models. Its a tactic as someone WILL buy it at some point you will also find that one dealer that doesn't want it to sit on the lost for a month.

Get a life. They don’t decide whether they see the front (battle) lines or not. By joining the forces they take that risk. I know that some military types can be immature jerks but the bottom-line is that we wouldn’t have the choices and freedoms that we have if it weren’t for them. You can go on being an entitled douche for all I care but I respect and appreciate those who chose to serve!

Fair enough but to everyone else....this is why dealerships markup pros. Because people like OP will buy it anyway. Is sad but what can ya do. Hard to blame the dealership sometimes.
