Just heard a loud noise, walked out to find a limb thru the windshield and wiper tray. How long should a dealer have this?

What problems can I expect after it's "fixed"?

That sure sucks to see, time in the shop will probably depend on any hidden damage.

:0 So sorry! Well, definitely check for leaks after it's all fixed, the wiper tray drain and the windshield seal- can you tell if the windshield frame is bent?

If it's just the windshield it shouldn't take very long at all - about an hour. I feel like you may have some other stuff going on there though. Damaged dash, cowel, hood?

Not sure I'd let a dealer touch that. Unless you already know they have a primo shop.

I'd be going to a high end body shop.

    Insurance should handle it.

Why not a Dealership with OEM parts?

Yikes.... glad no one was in the passenger seat at the time, otherwise you'd have to change the passenger seat due to shit stains

Read sentence 2. Its ok if you know.

I prefer shops where I've seen their work and had recommendations from car nuts. Ive never had one recommend a dealership.

Any body shop can get OE parts.

Definitely more than windshield, it went about 6" thru the plastic cowl tray. No visible damage to the hood, I'm sure that is because it is night.

As far as dealer vs independent body shop, I'm still up in the air about where to take it. My big concern is how long it will be down, we were planning on hauling some things on the 23rd. Also concerned about new noises and leaks after the repairs.

Technically that's just a splinter, so you can fix it with those little tweezers from a swiss army knife.

Technically it's gonna be up to your insurance company where it gets fixed, unless that limb had full coverage...

By law, you choose where it gets fixed. The insurance company can only suggest where to take it.

I'd be getting a couple estimates as well.

It would be good time to pick up a hood scuup or add speed holes.

So I get to take it to ANY body shop no matter what they charge? And the insurance company is going to pay that shop 2X what a competitor charges?
Yeah right. You get to choose who fixes it as long as they agree to do it for what your insurance is willing to pay. Hence your insurance company chooses where you get it fixed because they are writing the check.

I have Allstate and can take it to any shop I prefer for repairs. They obviously recommend an Allstate approved shop but its not mandatory to go there. I would be looking for a shop that only uses OEM toyota parts not OEM equivalent.
