If the OP is doing that in his 2018 Tacoma, tire rub will be the least of his worries

Rubbing is never good, but for the most part you should be ok with that wheel set up take a heat gun to the wheel wells and it should fix it if you do

It seems pretty common sense. I'd just put on what I like and see where it's rubbing. Flaps, plastic or cab just start trimming. Or just drive it and see if rubber or rub wins.

My 2nd gen had 265/75s that rubbed when I went over driveways when turning hard. I barely noticed it and was used to it. Wife would ride and get startled each time it happened. Friends understood, but it was super embarrassing taking co-workers anywhere to business functions. More weight in the cab = more rubbing. I seriously got so annoyed with it. Liked the look, but it was exhausting explaining why it sounded like that each time I took people places.

If you are rubbing because you bombed into your driveway or hit a speed bump at the mall then sure it may not be a big deal other than maybe your ego because your truck is making a wierd sound and it looks like you dont know what youre doing.

However, tire rub can mean more things on a trail, but ultimately depends on how much and how much you care. Tire rub means theres an external limit preventing full wheel travel or articulation which will make things much harder for you on a trail. Your tires can also easily grab mud flaps and the innner fender liner and rip all of those things.

It just depends, tire rub is never good but if you can keep it to a minimum its not a complete deal breaker.

For me its more important to understand when/how you have tire rub and being aware of it.

From a TW perspective I think its important to at least make people aware of it and leave it up to them whether its something they can live with or not
