255/85r16 STMaxx. Hammered the tabs down. No need to modify the exhaust.
I like the touch of extra clearance with a 33" skinny and close enough to my 295/70r17s to get home

I bought five used fj alloy wheels and put 265/70r16 tires on and the spare fits good enough but I can tell it’s a bit too big.

I was able to fit a 265/75/16 perfectly in the spare.

Will a 305/70R16 fit in the spare slot of a 2015 Dualcab Shortbed?

Anybody see the chain not being strong enough to hold 80ish pounds? I got my 295/70/17 to fit, but just worried the chain may not be strong enough.

Several thousand miles (some offroad) on my daily driver with a 305/70r16 tire mounted on the factory chain under my truck. It's rock solid. No issues.

Can you confirm if you had any issues? I'm going for the same setup. Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to throw my experience here in case it helps someone. I beat the guide tabs upwards as recommended. Cut off the exhaust hanger closest to the tire and it was able to fit a 285/75/17. Doesn't touch pumpkin, barely touches the heat shield and is pressed against the drivers side framework that the shackle and eye bolt is on. Happy trails guys
