Pre 2001 they made these trucks very simple....and economical...
the frames had good rust coating....so there is still a fair amount of em around...

That is the stock bend or look in these trucks....
They just made these look frumpy.......tdr came along later...

I've looked at a ton of these....they either have that peanut's frown....

or they've been replaced with something beefier...

If you go for an oem replacement type....you'll get the same effect...

I have personally never seen one with the booster leaf.....but I see those advertised....

Unlucky ones.... ones 01's to 04's are shopping for frames in addition to the leafs....
and sometimes that's frame #3 now....

Thanks for the input on shocks, I haven't looked into it too much other than everybody and their grandma seems to run 5100s, it was my understanding that theyre adjustable with a setting for more or less lift. I like the ride height of my truck and don't really want to go higher (those sweet sweet MPGs). It's not like the truck is unlevel, though maybe the stock front coils are sagging too. Seems like some more consideration is in order. Thanks all

    Shocks dampen, not lift.

Front 5100s and several other brands can adjust for lift, but only because it seats the coil higher or lower adjusting the preload. The coil itself is what supports the weight of a vehicle just the way a leaf pack in the rear does.

With that said, I still stand by replacing the leaf pack along with the shocks. Super easy especially for your CA truck.

Thanks, thats what I meant (the shocks being adjustable for different lifts). What I meant was say, I want to look for an aftermarket shock that is set up to work with springs that maintain the factory ride height. That is, if I'm able to budget a suspension overhaul anytime soon
